His Grace Mor Chrisostomos was born as the son of P V Jacob and Annakkutty of Pallathu house in Thattekadu near Kothamangalam on 26th September 1966. The St. Mary's church at Thattekad in Angamali diocese is his mother parish. The official name of the Metropolitan was then 'Jacob Markose'. The schooling and College education of His Grace was at Kothamangalam. After attaining a degree in Sociology, he studied Theology and received a diploma in it.
His close association with the various missionary activities of the Church in those days prompted him to join the 'Pourashthya Suvisesha Samajam' (Evangelical Association of the East) in 1991 as one of its missionaries. In 1992 he became an active committee member of the Evangelical Association. In 1993 he took the initiative to organize Samajam Gospel Team and in 1994 he established Missionary training college.  The same year he also became the secretary of the Mission society.
